The short answer: hoarding board advertising starts at Rs. 10,000 per month, and the real rate for any specific board depends on three things — location, size, and visibility.
The long answer is more useful, because in outdoor advertising the cheapest board is often the most expensive mistake. Here's how to think about it like a media buyer instead of a first-time renter.
Why two boards on the same road cost differently
Two hoardings can stand 200 metres apart and rent for very different money. What separates them:
1. The traffic actually stops there. A board beside a junction where vehicles idle at a light gets read. A board on a fast stretch gets glanced at, at best. When we shortlist sites for clients, dwell time matters more than raw traffic count.
2. The angle and the obstruction. A perfectly placed board that a new building now half-covers is worth a fraction of its old rate — but some owners still quote the old rate. Always look at the board from the road, in both directions, before signing anything.
3. Size and height. Bigger boards cost more to rent and more to print for (see our flex printing rates — the print is a separate cost from the rental). Height matters too: too high above the sightline and pedestrians never see it.
4. The direction of traffic that matters to you. A restaurant should face the evening commute home, not the morning rush. It sounds obvious; it's missed constantly.
What the monthly rate does and doesn't include
The rental is for the space. Budget separately for:
- The print itself — flex for the board face, priced per square foot.
- Installation — mounting the print on the structure.
- Refreshes — sun-faded creative makes your brand look tired; plan to re-print every several months, or run one campaign and take it down on time.
Static hoarding or digital?
If your message changes — offers, events, seasonal campaigns — a digital billboard can rotate creative without a ladder and a re-print every time. Digital slots start from Rs. 15,000 per month for a 30-second ad in the loop, while larger static billboard structures start from Rs. 20,000 per month. If it's one brand message that needs to sit on a key route for a year, classic hoarding still wins on cost. We run both, so the recommendation you get isn't biased toward one product.
How to start
Tell us your target area (or the customer you want — "people heading into Thamel in the evening" is a perfectly good brief), your budget, and your timeline. We'll come back with a shortlist of available sites, their exact monthly rates, and honest notes on each one's visibility — including the ones we'd skip and why.
See our billboard and hoarding options — or ask us to shortlist sites in your city. We work across Kathmandu, Pokhara, and five more cities.
